Ivy Bar

330 George Street
Sydney

If you are after hot, stylish and happening this is the place for you.

We started our journey in The Patio one of ‘Ivy’s dazzling constellation of lifestyle indulgences.’

The Patio is the outdoor section of Ivy. It’s fresh, light, with clean block colours and classic European flair with a twist of oriental. The large Japanese maple and sweeping spiral staircase are the out door centre piece’s. The Maples presence adds a beautiful unique touch to the whole look and feel of the lower level of the Ivy. This is a unique bar.

There’s plenty of standing room in The Patio and places to sit if you want to take the weight of your heels. There’s little cushions for your toosh too so make sure you look out for them.

Either side of The Patio there is a choice of bars and area’s to saunter. On one side there is Ivy Bar.

The Ivy Bar is a long bar with access on all four sides. It needs it, this bar gets pretty packed. Even with a packed crowd the service was surprisingly quick, friendly and with a smile. The bar staff were fresh, switched on and pretty cute too, both the guys and gals.

Now onto the Ivy Lounge which is a sunken intimate lounge area. A great place to sit and catch up with the girls or get cozy with a sexy other. It’s a nice chill our area.

Now for our favourite bit, the men factor… Hot, like sizzling, ouch hot. Well dressed and everywhere! Yes everywhere. From mid 20’s to the distinguished late 40’s. We tested our fellow male counterparts with a few cheeky smiles and lingering gazes and were delighted to find that they were very and receptive and willing to indulge in a little light friendly flirting. So ladies there’s lot of eye candy and if you’re up for some light cheeky flirting with hot men, then go for it!

It’s a melting pot of looks and styles and somehow it all works. From jeans to suits, to after 5, to later in the evening when the glamour comes out. The music is perfect and is a mix of pop, funk and groove which creates a hip happening sassy cool vibe with just the right amount of pretence and attitude to give it a nice bit of edge.

The Terrace is as you would guess, up the sweeping staircase and over looks the lower level. It’s beautifully decked out with chic cabanas and lush greenery. You really could be in another city, it’s so well done. The vibe in The Terrace is a little cooler and laid back. Still hot men, just a little more chilled. You have to queue to get up to The Terrace. If you want to get up there, line up straight away, and you can’t take your drink from downstairs upstairs. So finish it while you wait in line.

Then there’s The Den. We didn’t know it was a VIP lounge area where its members or invite only. So this night we didn’t get to check it out. The Den also has a space for live music. Next on the agenda, to get in there and check it out. We’ll keep you posted!

The restaurants, this place is massive. Tepanyaki Japanese restaurant is reservations only. Mad Cow a New York style grill, The Kitchen, upmarket burgers and salads. They’re all a little x’y but if you can afford it or your date is paying ( and he should be) then why not.

Loo’s. The lower level loo’s are great however I found the clear glass door to the ladies room a little discerning. I’m not really into making myself look beautiful when men can look straight in when they are walking to and from their loo! Apart from that the loos are clean & lovely fully equipped with a loo lady! She’s there all night and takes care of the loo’s and let’s you know which one is free. How’s that for going the extra mile, a great touch. The upstairs loos are unisex with an odd kind a set up. So if you’re not up for unisex loo’s make sure you go downstairs before you get up there.

Summary:
Hot, hot and hot. Did we say hot…on all counts. Staffs are friendly and happy to help with none of the pretence that you would expect. Hot men everywhere. A great girl’s night out. If you are up for fun a great environment and great music The Ivy is a must for any switched on CityWoman up for a great night out. The Ivy a big thumbs up. It’s a welcome addition to Sydney nightlight bringing a class all of its own.
